History
But what is a tropical fruit like passion fruit (or maracuja) doing in the magnificent Mediterranean scenery of the Riviera dei Gelsomini in Calabria?
It came about thanks to our passion for agriculture that encouraged us to research innovative varieties to grow and the wonderful micro-climate of this territory that allows us to grow even tropical fruits.
The fruits grow naturally and organically, protected only in the winter in a cold greenhouse. They ripen 100% naturally, picked from the ground because when the plant drops its fruits they are ripe at the right point. You will notice the difference
Tips&Recipes
The leathery, intense yellow skin encloses a scented, gelatinous pulp rich in super filling seeds and is very digestible.
Used mainly for the preparation of cocktails, fruit salads and desserts, we recommend consuming it fresh. In fact, it hides many virtues that go beyond its goodness. Do not cut it in half as you often see done. Open it by cutting the stalk and taking care not to lose the liquid inside, it is really tasty! With a spoon, remove the pulp and enjoy!
The fruit
The sweet passion fruit or flavicarpa has larger fruits than other varieties and an intense yellow color when ripe. The taste is more delicate than the violet but acidic, it has a very fragrant aroma.
Passion fruit is a bomb of antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, B2 and B6), beta-carotene, mineral salts (zinc, iron, magnesium, potassium, selenium), Omega 6 and pectin (soluble dietary fiber, fiber that helps intestinal regularity)
Maturation period
Period
It bears fruit twice a year in July and September. Fruits will be delivered at different stages of ripeness to help you preserve and consume them without altering their organoleptic and healthy properties.
Collection
In any case, ripe fruits will be collected, unlike those purchased from large-scale distribution which are collected before the optimal level of ripeness. All our fruits have a Brix degree between 18 and 19
